Four innocents. Two lovers. One long weekend.

When Charlotte's desperate for a job, her husband Dan puts her in touch with Nick, hoping she'll find fulfilment in working for him. But within minutes of starting her new job, Charlotte is wondering how on earth Dan puts up with her new employer...

But hatred sometimes hides affection, and after six months Charlotte is more than ready to leave Dan. She loves him, but their decade-long relationship had died down to the point where there is no spark left at all. And besides, she was madly in love with Nick.

Trying to keep up her affair with Nick while trying not rouse Dan's suspicions is becoming tiresome, especially when Nick feels as strongly as Charlotte does. So one morning, when Nick calls to let her know that he has told his wife, Marion, about them and is prepared to leave her, Charlotte doesn't hesitate.

In that one long weekend, two married people trigger the utmost upheaval amongst the four people closest to them. Marion is worried about the effect Nick's news will have on her son, Paul. But she needn't worry too much as Nick was barely a father to Paul. Vicky, Dan and Charlotte's daughter, is also affected by the news - yet Charlotte has made up her mind, regardless of the effect it has on four innocent players...

But there's a twist in the tale. Because Charlotte isn't aware of Ruby. And she doesn't find out about her until things have gone way too far ...
