(2025)
A novel by

Detroit homicide detective Bec Scanlon is broken hearted, pissed off, and needs a fresh start after an acrimonious divorce involving her now ex-wife and a Gal Gadot look-alike who is more Poison Ivy than Wonder Woman. A lateral transfer to Duluth, Minnesota, the land of tater tot hotdish, white-outs, and Lake Superior is a much better choice than landing in prison for murder.

Theo Zaccardo owns a popular LGBTQ-friendly bar in downtown Duluth. With a heart haunted by a horrifying secret entwined with long lost love, The Mashed Spud provides Theo plenty of no-strings hookups, just the way she likes it. Her orderly life is comfortable, routine, and safe. Until a dead body shows up in her dumpster.

Bec is assigned to investigate the murder. Things go from bad to worse when one of The Mashed Spud’s pizza cutters turns up as the murder weapon and Bec hauls Theo in for questioning.

Unintended sparks fly, and Bec must balance a completely unexpected attraction she wants nothing to do with and her job. The hunt for the killer leads Bec into Duluth's deadly, drug-riddled underside, where secrets, lies, and bent truths blur the lines between both right and wrong, and between crimes of vengeance and crimes of the heart.
