Jackson's Girls

(2017)
A novel by

Leanna Cargill is a Yankee - a damnyankee. But she's also as hardheaded as any steel magnolia. After her divorce. She's as determined as ever to succeed at her new job as an insurance investigator of an explosion and fire that destroyed millions of pounds of illegal raw sugar. She has a young daughter to protect and provide for.
Jackson Fontaine is a Southern gentleman, a sugar plantation owner, a businessman, something of a wheeler-dealer, and the single father of a young girl. His parents were recently killed in a plane crash, his sugar mill has been blown up, and he's on the brink of bankruptcy. His eccentric aunt is convinced it's all the work of the man who jilted her more than thirty years ago.
The two girls get along fine. It's their parents who keep running into obstacles to their attraction - like the sudden and unexpected appearance of Leanna's ex-husband. The tension between the loving adults turns out to be a decidedly "un-civil war" of wits and discovery.
