Foxlight

Ellice Menteith has been brought up in Scotland by a foster mother, Martha Bruce. One evening, in order to save her foster sister from rape, Ellice attacks the man with dressmaking scissors. He is the local squire's son and Ellice is sure that, in the twilight, she has been seen by a tall stranger. In order to save her daughters, Martha forces their neighbours to take the girls to Upper Canada with them. But Ellice will eventually meet the tall, dark man and learn his identity...
