What truths lie behind a young woman's tragic death?
All is not as it seems in this winter wonderland.
But time is running out ...

High above Chamonix on the Mer de Glace, two climbers discover the body of a young Swedish woman in a crevasse.

Her mother, burdened by grief and disbelief, cannot fathom how such a fate could befall her happy and worldly-wise daughter. ‘Where were her friends?’ she asks.

Aware that to find closure, his wife must come to terms with this being no more than a tragic accident, the stepfather – a member of the British establishment – seeks the help of Police Scotland to corroborate the facts.

Two Edinburgh officers, John and Harry, are sent to Chamonix where they are thrust into a world of enigmatic contradictions: conflicting evidence, perplexing cultural norms, and a way of life that exposes the different value sets of generations.

As they work through the case, something sinister emerges in this winter wonderland, and the officers find themselves questioning the very fabric of the world their generation has woven for the next.
