After graduating from the University of Warwick, Paul spent two years in Sri Lanka teaching English, visiting the ruins of Plonnaruwa, learning to speak Sinhala and to read Tamil. He is currently studying a PhD in Creative Writing at UEA. River of Ink is his debut novel.
