Robert Wright Campbell was born in Newark, New Jersey. He also wrote screenplays, stage plays and scripts for television series. He is the creator of:
1. 'Jimmy Flannery', sewer inspector in Chicago.
2. 'Jake Hatch', railroad detective.
3. 'Whistler', private eye in Hollywood.
He also wrote under the name 'R. Wright Campbell' and under the pseudonym 'F.G. Clinton'.
