The Best Science Fiction of the Year 12
(1983)(Book 12 in the Best Science Fiction of the Year series)
An anthology of stories edited by Terry Carr
1984 Locus Award for Best Anthology
This is a stellar collection of short stories and novellas. Of the 13 stories in this collection, I enjoyed all of them except one, and that was more a matter of taste than the story being poorly written. Most of the authors I had never heard of and the rest I was only vaguely familiar with (although if you're a regular sci-if reader, most of these names will be common-place). The collection contains an early William Gibson story that precedes his Necromancer novel. The Gibson story, "Burning Chrome", is great and I would read his longer fiction based on my reaction to this story./THE POPE OF THE CHIMPS....Robert Silver berg..../Life of imitates art as a dying scientist's experiment in mortality gives his subject chimpanzees a diabolical new concept of God/BEST VALUE ON THIS VINTAGE BOOK LIGHT TANNING /LIGHT SHELF WARE/NO CREASE IN THE SPINE/EXCELLENT VALUE/FAST SHIPPING /OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE/
