It’s an easy job being the keeper of a sacred spring. Usually…

Callie Woodruff is the keeper of the Well of the Maiden, the spring ruled over by the Goddess Brigid. It’s usually a pretty boring job. Not that it doesn’t have its pleasures of sitting by the gurgling magic waters, watching the birds, tending the plants. And on Imbolc, uniting with the Goddess Cailleach. She is Old Woman Winter who hands over the season at Imbolc, the Celtic beginning of spring. Although this year it’s kind of chilly.

Callie carries the crystal chalice of sacred water down the hill to the town’s ritual. Just as she does every year. But this time, a man with a gun steps out of the woods, desperate to find what he calls “The Fountain of Youth.” His wife is dying and he demands that Callie heal her. Right now.
