While researching background on lives of Maine island lobster fishermen's families for her recent novel The Summer I Dared, best-selling novelist Barbara Delinsky was captivated by all the interesting, amusing, and surprising information she turned up concerning Maine's most famous crustacean. She collected much of it into a little book that she had printed up to give to friends, family, and professional colleagues. Then it occurred to her that the book might be of interest to a wider readership: "I do believe it would be a fun impulse buy for lobster lovers everywhere." Part of the proceeds from this book go to the Barbara Delinsky Charitable Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.
