Barry Denenberg was born in Brooklyn, New York. He was a serious reader from an early age and when he attended Boston University in 1968, majoring in history, he worked in a bookstore at night. After college he was a book buyer for some fine independent bookstores, some of the nations largest retail book chains, and a marketing executive in publishing. Barry has written numerous critically acclaimed books for young readers. He is married to publisher Jean Feiwel and lives in Bedford, New York. They have a daughter, Emma, who is involved in the theater.
