Sadie
When I was young, I was stolen from my family and forced into a gilded cage, one with real bars on the windows and monsters within the walls. I always had a little bit of a temper—my brother used to call me Psycho Sadie—but after I was taken, after everything I was put through, I embodied the nickname.
When I got older, and with no visible way out, I did the unthinkable to free myself. Nothing could stop me from getting back to my family.
Once free, while building my new life, I met Elias, the first man ever to elicit actual feelings, breaking through my normally detached, robotic self. Unfortunately, when old enemies creep in and haunt my new life, threatening my tenuous hold on my attempt at a fresh start, I have to fight again for my freedom.

Day in and day out, I push through the monotony. As an ex-con, I don't have many options, but it doesn't really matter. I have a job, peace and quiet when I need it. I don't need much else.
But then Sadie shows up in town and changes everything. I don't deserve her. I'm too old for her, too rough around the edges. She has trauma and secrets a mile wide. But none of that matters. Together, we're fire, and I'd burn the world to the ground to keep her safe.
When outside forces threaten her life, I'll stop at nothing to keep her safe, even if that means protecting her from herself.
