Carol Dunbar

CAROL DUNBAR is a former actor, playwright, and coloratura soprano who left her life in the city to move off the grid. The daughter of a naval officer, Carol was born on the island of Guam and grew up bouncing around to different schools across the globe. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The South Carolina Review, Midwestern Gothic, and on Wisconsin Public Radio. She writes from a solar-powered office on the second floor of a water tower in northern Wisconsin, where she lives in a house in the woods with her husband, two kids, and a giant Alaskan malamute. The Net Beneath Us is her first novel.

A Lesser Light (2025)
Peter Geye
"In this tempest of a novel, Peter Geye has bound together husband and wife on the bleak cliffside of an ill-suited marriage, where wolves howl, shipwrecks haunt, lovers meet in secret, and hope arcs in stardust. I will never forget this achingly beautiful story with its prose that sings through the soul."
