Maggie’s world came crashing down around her the day her mother breathed her last. Responsible now for her younger sister Adelia, Maggie’s future is bleak. Running from debts she didn’t incur, they’re forced to leave the only home they’ve ever known.

They almost freeze that first night.

Maggie gets a job at a matchstick factory. She finds herself in the midst of deadly sickness and atrocious working conditions. What would become of her younger sister if Maggie also took ill like so many of her coworkers? A strike to raise awareness seems the only option.

Russell always wanted to be a lawyer, and he always cared for Maggie. When she disappeared, he believed her to be dead.

Years later by complete coincidence he spots Maggie in a strike march. He becomes embroiled in the dispute and offers his legal services to the organizers. His employer warns him to stay away, but with Maggie back in his arms, Russell’s not going to let anything happen to her.

Maggie means more to Russell that he anticipated...Amidst this workplace turmoil, can these two young people share their hearts and find a way to a brighter future?
