Mail Order Rebecca
(2020)(The second book in the Copper Creek Mail Order Brides series)
A novel by Charlotte Dearing
Adam Barstow comes to Elizaville seeking one thing only – redemption.
He wants to be left alone to mend his ways. The good Lord has other plans.
Many in his hometown see Adam as a brawler, someone who’d rather fight than talk. He admits his reputation might be deserved.
But some in his hometown see Adam as a criminal, someone who should be in a cell, all because he protected a helpless child from two vicious outlaws.
He leaves his father, his brothers and hometown for the desolate outpost of Elizaville where he will run the family’s business, a cattle depot along the new train line.
He hopes for nothing more than peace and quiet. He prays that one day he might escape his past.
As Adam works to turn over a new leaf, two orphans appear on his doorstep. They have escaped a cruel orphanage. Adam can hardly turn them away and vows to keep them for a short spell, just till he finds them a decent home.
To his surprise, a few short weeks later a mail-order bride arrives in Elizaville. A mail-order bride who believes Adam sent for her.
He didn’t.
Rebecca is kind and gentle. She’s sure Adam wants a wife.
He doesn’t.
But Adam can hardly admit to this small oversight now, can he? Not when he learns more of the lovely young woman who seeks her own redemption. Adam will stop at nothing to keep his lovely, sweet bride near his heart and tucked deep in his loving embrace.
He might well be a beast.
But Adam won’t disavow his sweet mail-order bride.
Not with two small, vulnerable children who so desperately need a mama. Not when he yearns to shelter his newfound, precious family. Not when he must hold tight to his hard-won, improbable chance of redemption.
Genre: Historical Romance
