"... a tender, moving novel that touches the heart. Ms. Dorsey's star shines brighter than ever." ~ Romantic Times

Captain Jacob Morgan spent the Civil War as a doctor in the Confederate army, doing what he could to alleviate suffering. As the war ends he knows he has nothing of himself left to give. He's a damaged man. Heading for Texas, trying to escape memories that haunt him, he hears gunshots and despite his determination to avoid entanglements Jake rides into a farmyard in Kansas.

Samantha and her brother Will are the only survivors of the Lowery family, abolitionists that made their way to Kansas during the bloody prewar years. And all Sam and Will have is their farm. So when Landis Moore and his gang of border ruffians shoot up her farm, trampling her garden and terrorizing Will and her, Samantha wants to fight back. But she knows she can't ... for Will's sake. But when minutes later another Rebel rides into her yard, sidearm pointed toward the front door, she feels there's no choice but to shoot.

At first Samantha feels the wounded man is just another trail sent her way. She thinks he's one of the many ex-Confederates Moore has gathered into a band harassing Union sympathizers and forcing them off their land. It isn't until she's nursed Jake back to health that Samantha begins to think she made a mistake shooting him.

Jake finds it difficult to believe the woman who took care of him after he was shot was the one who shot him. It's obvious she and the boy need help. But the woman won't ask for it, and Jake doesn't want to get involved in another fight. But the attraction between Jake and Samantha is strong and moving on is more difficult than he imagines.

THE REBEL'S KISS is a sensual, heartwarming novel that you will remember long after you read the last word.
