“Are you okay driving?” I asked Sonia, “I’m going to hold a gun on him, just in case he wakes up.”
Sonia licked her lips. “Are you sure we shouldn’t just call an ambulance?”
The thought had honestly not occurred to me, but I considered it now. “We already have him in the car. We cannot afford to wait. We have to get him to the hospital. Something crazy is going on, and we have to know what it is.”
She hesitated, as if she was going to give me another lecture about how now was not the time to put things together, but then she went around to the driver’s side.
I took one final look at the guy before I sat in the front passenger seat, turning so I could hold a gun on him as Sonia backed up.
Moments later, we sped up the hill.
I heaved a sigh of relief when we were at the top.
That was when a car came out of nowhere and crashed into us.
