North Dakota is cattle country. Rancher families with bloody feuds that go back a century or more. Finding themselves in trouble with the law or in civil disputes is a weekly occurrence for these rugged cattlemen.
Brock Weston, attorney at law, knows all about it. He is from an ancient cattle family himself, but since he’s a younger son and wouldn’t inherit the ranch, he went into law. Now his job is to protect his clients from their worst enemies which, more often than not, are themselves.
But North Dakota is changing: oilmen are moving in, and they don’t give a damn about cattle country. When this comes to a head, and an entire herd of cattle is apparently killed by water contamination, Brock is going to have to help the old world take on the new, without each side killing each other… or worse.
