This is another great book by E.M. Delafield, author of the Provincial Lady series. Here, she has put together an excellent reference work, an homage of sorts, to lesser known fiction that specifically deals with domestic life and habits in the mid -and late Victorian age.
The book is divided in sections dealing with different aspects of the Victorian home environment, and how different authors like Elizabeth Wetherell, Charlotte M. Yonge, and others saw them in their books, subjects as: "Papa and Mama", "The Governess", "Enjoying Ill Health", "The Fair Sex", etc.
