It's a race across the continent...

Working with Interpol, Dr. Morelle is helping them unmask the big wheel behind an international narcotics racket. With an uncanny eye to spot things out of the ordinary, Dr. Morelle's time is most welcome in Iraq... along with the help of a police-informer. With the successful bust at Lukka's house, a man who had long been suspected of being a big wheel in the well-organised dope-smuggling ring, Dr. Morelle thinks his work is almost done. But when their informant turns up dead, and other informants suffer similar deaths, Dr. Morelle's task becomes harder.

Or it would have done had he not been involved in a serious train accident. When news of the train accident reaches London, Miss Frayle, Dr. Morelle's querulous and inimitable secretary is worried. She knew he was on the train, yet there was no mention of him amongst the casualties list ... and she was she sure he would have contacted her to let her know he was fine. Something was amiss.

Travelling across the continent to Germany, Miss Frayle is keen to find out what has happened to Dr. Morelle, and where he could be. But an anonymous note distracts her on arrival... which only entangles her in the sinister events unfolding.

'Thrilling, perplexing, and immensely enjoyable' Thomas Waugh

Ernest Dudley
ran away from home at seventeen to become an actor in a Shakespearean troop, where he would later meet his future wife on the set of Peter Pan. Dudley then turned his attention to writing, first as a journalist, then as a writer for radio, television and film, before embarking on historical and detective novel writing. He was a founding member of the Crime Writers Association, and a marathon runner well into old age.
