Beautiful book about the natural world which will appeal to all nature lovers, from the schoolboy setting out to gather insects in a matchbox to enthusiastic birdwatchers and serious students of wildlife. The core of the book is focussed on the practical aspects of the naturalist at work, providing the ground rules for observation and understanding the natual world. The author then takes the reader on a "walking tour" of a whole range of natural habitats, pointing out along the way what to look for, how to interpret what is seen and what to take home to study. All of this is beautifully illustrated and infused with Gerald Durrell's celebrated story telling skills. Both book and jacket are in immaculate condition with just a faint hint of "creaming" at page edges. Full colour dust jacket illustrated with all the sorts of "treasures" which might be found on a good day's stroll.
