Never Turn Back Hallie had only worked for kindly old Mrs Brunton for a short time, so when the old lady died and Hallie learned that she had left her a large country house, it came as a most unexpected but very pleasant surprise - particularly as at that moment she was smarting from the experience of having been let down badly by Simon Connell and was only too glad of the chance to get away for a while. But the fact that Mrs Brunton had not left the house to him had come as an equally unexpected but decidedly unpleasant surprise to her nephew Roger Sherman, and when Hallie arrived on the scene to take over she met with hostility from all quarters. Yet in a surprisingly short space of time she had managed to recover from Simon and fall in love with Roger - and then, on meeting the possessive Alvys Dalzell, realise that yet again she was wasting her time on a man who wasn't interested in her.
