Jill Downie

Jill was born in Guyana, South America, then lived in England and the Channel Island of Guernsey.  She studied languages at Bristol University and the Sorbonne, Paris, before emigrating to Canada.  She is the award-winning author of fiction, non-fiction and plays, and chose Guernsey for the unique setting of her murder mystery series, featuring Detective Inspector Ed Moretti and his partner, Liz Falla.  In Daggers And Men's Smiles, Jill draws on the Nazi Occupation of Guernsey for Moretti and Falla's first case, a maze of intrigue, sex and vengeance.   A Grave Waiting, the second in the series, involves Moretti and Falla  in an investigation that deals with Guernsey's role as an offshore tax haven.
