HOLLYWOOD: On the eve of the 1948 Academy Awards show at Shrine Auditorium, good pals Humphrey Bogart and Peter Lorre join ranks to track down the killer of one of Bogie's actor friends. As many as 42 real-life acquaintances of Bogart (John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe, John Huston, Harry Cohn, Raymond Chandler, restaurateur Michael Romanoff, etc.) pass through this noirish mystery as Bogie and Lorre uncover a plot to blow up the Oscar show, as well as a devious attempt by a producer to use the House Un-American Activities Committee for evil purposes.
