Rankin Davis are an unique double act. Two lawyers who met across a hostile couroom. The are now a very successful writing partnership.RANKINKeith Rankin was born in 1960 in Sedgefield, County Durham. His parents were both longtime workers in the local shipyard on the River Tees. He grew up on a local council estate in Billingham in the shadow of the giant ICI Chemical plant which influenced- the theme of this novel. He went to the local extremely rough compr~c~hensive where he played football and icehockey and was offered the chance to join the town clubs and turn professional. Under pressure fiom his father he continued his education and studied law at Leeds University and then went to the Bar. He passed the bar finals in the top ten percent of his year. He did his pupillage in a prestigious set of chambers in Newcastle upon Tyne and specialised in criminal law.Keith Rankin is married with three children and in what spare time remains plays a number of musical instruments, in particular the tenor saxaphone.DAVISAnthony Davis was born in 1961.

 Recently described as the 'enfant terrible' of the Newcastle legal fiaternity, he has practised at the Criminal Bar since being called in 1984. He is the son of an eccentric northern ceramicist and art historian and a keen amateur actress. He was brought up in Bishop Auckland where he went to school. He was offered a place at RADA but against his mother's wishes he declined and studied law at the University of Newcastle where he acted regularly in theatre productions. He practises law full time, and when not working or writing spends as much time as possible with his wife and three children.
