Rough Justice
(2024)(The third book in the Detective Christian Dane series)
A novel by Simon Dinsdale
'A compelling series. Gripping and informed. Dinsdale's knowledge of police procedures shines through.' Thomas Waugh, author of Duty Calls
Detective Superintendent Christian Dane believes in justice for victims, even when they passed. As is the case when Colin Parr, a retired policeman, is found dead.
The investigator's interest is piqued too, due to Parr being trussed up in a way that caused him to seemingly strangle himself.
The team that Dane finds himself leading in Essex is disorganised and possibly corrupt. One officer appears to be leaking information to Angus Boyd, a tabloid journalist.
The only person Dane can trust is Detective Constable Hayley Cross, a skilled detective he brings in to help and watch his back.
Four more victims are discovered, each killed in the same macabre way. Dane realises he is hunting a spree killer who is targeting people linked to Parr and a defunct childrens home.
The detective identifies a suspect and sets a trap. But when it springs, hes confronted with a catastrophic mistake from his past.
Dane has let this victim down once before. He won't do so again.
Simon Dinsdale served in the British Army in the 1970s. He joined the police in 1980 and spent twenty seven years as a detective. He now writes, travels and speaks about his experiences. He lives in Essex.
Praise for Simon Dinsdale:
'Dark Shadow is a fast moving police procedural written by a top murder detective and rippling with authenticity.' Martin Edwards. Author of Sepulchre Street
Genre: Mystery
