Out of Nowhere

The survivor of a classroom mass shooting, Maddie Allen has spent the past year driving aimlessly around the South, afraid if she stops the killer, who escaped, will find her. Even after a year of physical therapy, Maddie bears the scars and limitations of the bullet wounds she suffered. Fixing cars is her main personal therapy, and she is good at it. Just when she feels she is ready to re-enter the world, she stops to get gas in her classic car. When a sniper kills a family in a van beside her Corvette, she knows she's in trouble again. Taken in by a farming family, the widowed mother becomes a surrogate mom to Maddie, while her son, Owen, slowly falls in love with her. As the killer is sought, terrible destruction befalls her friends' farm, and Maddie must either run to save her new love, or stay and fight it out, risking his and his mother's life.
The price paid by everyone who cares for Maddie is terrible. She pays an even worse one. Her past has found her this time, and it's not going to leave her unscarred.
