When Edgar Allan Poe died, he left behind a fragment of a short story, which historians have titled "The Lighthouse." Being familiar with Poe's body of work as well as his personal life, Engstrom wrote a fictional account of how he may have written that piece. The result is this imaginative reconstruction. This story was written for Poe's Lighthouse, an anthology of just such stories, edited by Chris Conlon and published in 2006.
