"In our year at uni, Frank Green is it. The style council, the big man on campus, the born leader. From day one, Frank Green has been the definition of cool. Frank Green, frank in all colours, shameless and sure as a peacock. Peach jeans, pink jeans, Frank Green.
Queensland Uni, Medicine, 1981. Nothing counts here if Frank's not a part of it."
A Taste of Green contains two stories featuring the two main characters, Phil and Frank, from Nick Earls' Green (UAE)--formerly published alternately as either Two to Go or World of Chickens. These are the stories formed the foundation of the friendship before Frank and Phil met Sophie and Ron (and before Frank ran the New York marathon in an alternate universe); they're the stories that started it all.
In "Green," Phil and Frank meet in a chem lab where they cheat on a practical and then later go out for drinks. Ever-awkward Phil will order the only libation that comes to mind--and that's how they'll start the creme de menthe tradition Frank will carry through uni.
As a sophomore, Phil mans the grill in "Sausage Sizzle"--what's a college social without greasy franks (of the furter variety, not the Green) and too much alcohol? Phil might find it a challenge to flirt over the smoke if he knew how to flirt at all.
Don't forget to check out Green (UAE) to read more of their friendship.
Genre: General Fiction
