Phil Earle

UK flag (b.1974)

Phil was born in Hull in 1974, and he studied English and Drama at Hull University. He worked for a year as a carer in a childrens home, then after training as a drama therapist, he worked in a therapeutic community in London, which cared for multiply abused adolescents. Then, changing tack completely, he chose a marginally more sedate life as a childrens bookseller. It was here that he developed an obsession for kids literature, in particular, young adult fiction.

After three years at Ottakars, he became a sales rep, and then a key account manager for Transworld/Random House, and is now sales director at Simon and Schuster Childrens Books.

Phil lives in South East London with his wife and three young children.

The Boy I Love (2025)
William Hussey
"Magnificent. It takes a special writer to simultaneously capture both the horrors of war and the joys of true love, but William Hussey manages it effortlessly. My new favourite YA love story."

Finding Wonder (2023)
Lauren St John
"Agatha Christie on horseback and the absolute definition of a page-turner, Lauren St John's passion for horses radiates from every single chapter. Superb storytelling."

The Den (2023)
(Everyone Can Be a Reader)
Keith Gray
"One page from Keith and I'm fifteen again, remembering the tensions, the friendships, the endless summer holidays. He's a masterful storyteller: one of the finest we have and that's why I savour every word he writes."
