Dan Colley was a reformed gunfighter, turned rancher. But trouble wouldn't leave him alone because Dan was not the kind of man to sit idly by while a neighbor was in danger of his life from a cattle king too big for his boots. Al Ritchie was a rancher who subscribed to the old Wild West rules: you hang a thief, you shoot a man if you have to, and then tell the sheriff just to get it on the record. Ritchie wanted to own the whole valley. He figured he could start by getting rid of the farmers with the help of the other ranchers.
