From the author of 'A Fresh of Breath Air'. My husband Tony and I moved to rural France - the Double Forest - in January 2008. His employers had made him an offer he couldn't refuse, so we held hands, ran towards the edge of the cliff, closed our eyes - and jumped! We had no idea exactly how we would survive, Tony's pension being very small, and the house, a huge wreck, but we knew that being as self-sufficient as possible was the only way forward. We might begin our new lives as paupers, but something would turn up. It always did! And it was an adventure - akin to waiting for the children to grow up, so that we could run away from home and join the circus. Instead, we hurtled headlong into a world more backward and alien than we could ever have imagined, for, when we landed at the foot of the clliff, we found ourselves living in the 1950s. This is the journal of our first few months here, and will be followed by the book, 'Zut Alors! - A Breath of French Air' in the near future.
