Jerry Prince, a 36 year old ex-baseball player and navy vet, is down on his luck until he meets Bix Billington, an elderly physician who runs a questionable - but very lucrative - program for autistic children. Jerry, a charismatic sociopath, eliminates Bix and becomes director of the program, ruthlessly casting aside those who get in his way. The program thrives despite an almost total lack of evidence that it works and ample evidence that it causes emotional and physical harm.
