Winter was behind them with spring coming in, the smoke and gunfire that finished Foster’s and Babcock’s reign of crime had settled. Wade, still crippled, sent Jack and Long Rider to the Black Spring, Foster place, to check on the land, and the ranchers they had worked with. They were not prepared to find three farm families settled down on the land. When confronted, Jack learned they were not squatters, a situation that presented an unexpected problem to deal with, or was it an opportunity?
At the same time, the Comanche and Comanchero renegades began raiding into Palo Pinto County, drawing closer to the Chambers Black Spring and Trinity River operations. Then came the day Bennington’s riders picked up two distraught and lost farm children, bringing them to the Chambers ranch with a story of a gang of men attacking and taking their parents captive. The renegades had no idea they had just crossed Wade Chambers and Jack Seaver, but they were about to find out. That mistake would be their last mistake as Jack led the Chambers crew on a mission with one solitary purpose, to wipe the renegades off the face of the earth.
