The Flowering of the Tudor Rose

(2018)

Romance, drama, and kingship...

The reign of Henry VII is seen by many historians as a milestone in English history, at one and the same time the finishing post of the self-destructive Wars of the Roses and the starting line of the Tudor dynasty. But Henry's story is every bit as dramatic as those of the kings who came before and after him...

After a childhood spent as a fatherless earl under house arrest in a Welsh fortress, he was spirited away to Brittany and France by adventurer and uncle Jasper Tudor, his father's brother. During his exile he was taught to be a king, and when he was ready he returned to England with a hastily assembled army to claim both a crown and a high born wife. It was the final combination of the red and white roses in a marriage of genuine love.

This is Henry's story, one of romance and drama, as he transformed from a frightened and somewhat weakly boy into a powerful monarch who would found a dynasty. This is a coming of age novel of the original Tudor.

David Field was born and educated in Nottingham, and it was at Nottingham High School that he first acquired his love of the history, and language, of England, which he has over the years combined in a series of historical novels. This latest release, The Flowering of the Tudor Rose, is a companion volume to The Scarlet Peacock, also publish by Endeavour Press. David currently resides with his wife in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia.
