What readers say:
4.5***** Stars: This series gets better with each book. New Zealand is among my favorite settings for the novels I read and I loved the suspense in this story of a women hiding from her past in a cottage tucked away in the bush near a small town. Her equally isolated and private neighbor, helicopter pilot Tyrell, cracks her shell of isolation and, wow, there's SOME history that tumbles out!
Several of the characters have traumatic pasts and/or uncertain futures that had me on their side, anxiously turning the page.
The romance is clean and not too sweet. It actually competes with the suspenseful side of Keysha's fugitive story. The climax is fast-paced action, danger and really good, followed by a return to the story's romantic roots. And not to be forgot, the rugged New Zealand scenery descriptions gave me a real wistful longing to be in them thar backroads, forests and hills! All told, a really fine read.
This is book # 3 in the new Settler's Ridge series.
Keysha Simmons is not reaching for the stars. All she wants is to stay alive and out of prison.
Keeping to herself and hiding in remote Settler’s Ridge is her proven strategy—as long as her family doesn't know where to find her.
When helicopter pilot Tyrell Peters sees Keysha ready to jump off a bridge, he does what he always does: he comes to the rescue. He's done so since childhood seeking redemption when he failed to rescue his little sister. However, he quickly learns nothing is as it looks, and not every beautiful woman needs rescuing.
At first glance, it seems these two hermits have nothing in common. But he’s ready to help when a nosy reporter thinks she’s found in Keysha the fugitive and long-lost heiress of the House of D’Arbanville, the famous Melbourne fashion empire.
Staying alive and out of prison is suddenly not that simple anymore. Sick and tired of being scared all the time, she decides to turn the table on her family and clear her name. With Tyrell at her side and the help of a handful of new friends, she’s ready to fight back.
Can Tyrell help Keysha get the justice she deserves, so she's able to trust love again? Or is she another female he can’t rescue
Ko au te awa - ko te awa ko au ... I am the river, the river is me. Time has stood still in Settler's Ridge, a small mountain village on the Whanganui river in the heart of New Zealand. The four-hundred residents may be short on words, but they are big on helping each other.
