When Tina Rutherford's brother Bruno was killed in a car accident in England, when Tina was living so far away in Rome, she felt she ought to go to Northumberland, where Bruno had been working on an archaeological dig on Hadrian's Wall, to clear up his affairs - and also to meet his fiancée Helen Copeland. But she received a very far from warm welcome from Helen's dour brother Adam, who maintained that Brun0's treatment of Helen had left much to be desired, and advised Tina to leave well alone. But in spite of Adam, Tina determined to get to the bottom of it all .
