Scrivener of Rome

This is a saga in the form of historical fiction and is placed in the time after the destruction of the Roman Monarchy - the tale spanning a double handful of years, bracketing the beginning of the 4th century B.C.E. The early years of the Republic were times of turmoil, and not just for that city on the Tiber. Rome has begun the climb that will make its people the masters of the entirety of the lands surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, but that peak will not be reached for hundreds of years. Many travails will fall to the citizens of Rome before that pinnacle is conquered. A young man, of those times, is given a new start in life as a result of an impulsive action, beginning a journey that will take him to the far reaches of the known world to watch - and sometimes to partake in - the rise and fall of mighty empires.
