A Dark and Murderous Journey

Suzette Bishop had hunted for her biological grandparents as long as she could remember. Then she found a sister and her father’s parents. Her sister hated her. Her grandmother despised her. Her grandfather was willing to let her die to save himself. For over a year, she had avoided them, but now her grandfather was dying. And he wasn’t dying easy.

Suzette looked down at her grandfather. He didn’t seem real, his waxy pallor made him look almost like a mannequin she had seen at Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum in Florida. Her grandfather’s faded eyes moved to her face.
“There is a curse on my soul. I need you to remove it.”
“I’m not a priest.” Her mind was roiling but she kept her voice deceptively gentle.
“I don’t need a priest. I need a detective.” Suzette felt something hot race up her spine. The urge to run, to hide had never been stronger.

“Promise me you’ll--find—her--return her to her--parents. Promise me.”

Those were the last words her grandfather, the grandfather who hated and despised her, said before his hospital bed monitors flatlined.

She found herself nodding, agreeing to an impossible task. “I’ll do my best.”

Those few words would change Suzette’s life. These were her last words to him. A death bed promise that she couldn’t ignore. And with her history as an orphan, a death bed promise that she wouldn’t ignore.
With the help of an older friend and ex-client, Cornelia Campbell, Suzette starts on a hunt that will twist her heart, turn friends into enemies and find her new friends. Will Suzette be able to find the three-year-old child before their enemies put them both six feet under.
