Judge Bates and Tobacco Jones' visit to Lodgepole to see why theirfreighter friend Rusty Brant had not paid the money he owed, was to be merely a stop-over on their way to the trout streams. But Lodgepole gave them more than they bargained for. It was a wild boom town, frequented by gold miners, and the dynamite in the nearby mines was used for far more than just peaceful purposes. Brant himself was laid low by a bullet wound, and the pards found their lives in far greater jeopardy than the trout they were now too busy to catch.
