In this sci-fi retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Nightingale,” the young Empress of a high-tech planet is gifted a humanoid artificial intelligence with the voice of an angel.
Though the greatest performers from across the galaxy attend Daiyu’s coronation, it’s the handsome tenor Vox Jarik, known as the Bilin Nightingale, who steals her attention. Enamored by his talent and charm, she invites him to her court. When Daiyu’s old mentor creates an AI singer named Galen, built with lifelike features and programmed with human emotions, Jarik warns that a machine can never be as dependable as a human.
As Daiyu settles into her role as ruler, she becomes increasingly aware of how treacherous the palace can be and begins to wonder about Jarik’s intentions.
