She’s alone and wants a friend. He’s been waiting to be that friend.

The world is a challenging place for Calyn Barwood. She’s been sequestered in her home for most of her life, first at her parent’s insistence, and then as sole caregiver for her invalid brother. After her brother’s death, she is free to do as she wants, but meeting people and conversing with them is outside her norm. Still, she is determined, and joining the church’s worship team at the invitation of the pastor, is a first step.

Gavin Wright connected with Calyn one moonless night nine years ago when she slipped out of her parent’s home. They talked and shared a kiss he’s never been able to forget. He’s traveled all over with his own Christian band, but is now back home, playing on the worship team and running a business with his best friend. When Calyn shows up for practice, he finds the connection is still there, although she has no idea they’ve ever met.

As Calyn opens up to new experiences and makes friends, she is drawn to Gavin. She remembers that long-ago kiss and wishes it could have been him. Her parents have been pushing her to move back East with them, and when she refuses, they follow through with a threat that will ensure she leaves the only home she’s ever known. As Gavin and Calyn grow closer, will they be able to work together and find a way for her to stay in Driftwood Cove? And maybe find a way for them to be together?
