"If it's not one thing, it's your mother."

Overeating, overspending, overdoing is how journalist Brandy Alexander copes with her break up with fiance, Nick Santiago, after her ex, Bobby, kissed her...and she kissed him back. Heartbroken over the loss of Nick, and confused about her feelings toward Bobby, Brandy reluctantly agrees to see a therapist to get to the root of her complex emotions.

In between therapy appointments, Brandy dives into her work taking on a hit and run "accident" that doesn't sound that accidental, and investigating the disappearance of Luis, a young, undocumented Salvadorian. While on the trail, Brandy realizes that Luis is not the only young man who's gone missing, and she soon makes a gruesome discovery.

Meanwhile, Brandy's friends are having struggles of their own. Fran's dealing with an unexpected pregnancy, John had relationship-insecurity, Janine and Paul find that there
is such a thing as too much togetherness, and Carla wants to have a baby, while that is the last thing on Frankie's "to do" list. But, as the gang takes on an uncertain future, they know they will always have each other and their Philly roots to get them through. No Such Thing as an Accident is the ninth book in the Brandy Alexander Mystery Series.
