I was in two minds whether to raise it – but if I don’t, then it’ll be “why didn’t you say something?”
Daisy gives me that look – the one my maths teacher used to. ‘What’s the point in… are you crazy?’
She smacks an index finger in her palm. ONE – it’s cheaper. Only a wee bit, but hey – every little helps.’
‘Buying them separately spreads the cost, though.’
I couldn’t help myself
‘Look,’ she grunts, cheeks flaming. ‘If you can’t afford seven quid for three books, it’s time to renew your library membership. Sam, buying this box set will sort our weekend.’
‘Now you’ve lost me.’
‘Simple. Picture it—the box set and a coupla bottles of wine, not to mention some crisps, nuts, choccy – maybe something soothing in the background, like Rachmaninoff...’
Just then, the doorbell goes and Daisy sighs. ‘But definitely NOT Rossini...’
