The Range Hawk

(1940)
A novel by

When Jack Fielding, owner of the JF Ranch, found old Mark Severn, owner of the Bar 7, on the lonesome trail through Topaz Canyon, dying from a bullet wound, he knew there was going to be trouble on the Chuckwalla Range. Rustlers had been running off cattle, and Mark was going to do something about it.

As he lay dying, Mark made two requests: that Jack take over operation of the Bar 7, and that Jack find Mary Cameron, the granddaughter Mark had never met -- and turn over his empire to her. If Mary can't be located, the Bar 7 will go to Jack.

Word gets out that Mark has died and left his spread to an unknown granddaughter setting the stage for crooks, con artists, and a barrage of smoking guns . . .
