Two romantic short stories from the pages of a popular women's magazine.
THE LONG WEEKEND
"The door to my room in the rented ski cabin opened slowly and a tall, broad-shouldered form ducked under the eaves. Oh, no, not glasses! I never could resist a man who looked intelligent and vulnerable at the same time. The eyes behind the glasses surveyed me in my granny gown as if I was wearing a sexy negligee. So this was Mr. Wonderful, the guy my sister had raved about. Not just raved, she was planning our wedding before we'd even met. Brandon was embarrassed. Or maybe just disappointed.
"You must be Brandon," I said brightly, wrapping a blanket around my shoulders. "Either that or you're the cat burglar."
"And you must be Lady Gaga or Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
"Touche," I said.
SMALL-TOWN HERO
"My dreams reflected my confused, excited and bewildered mind. I saw a woman in a strange town packing her suitcase. Was that me getting ready to follow Steve wherever he was going? Or was that his ex-wife walking out on him because life was too dull in his town? And where did that leave me? Was I in love with Steve or was it the way of life I yearned for? The answer was not to see a dream analyst but to follow my heart."
Light romantic fiction for your lunch hour, coffee break or any time you want an escape from real life.
