Astray
(2004)(The third book in the Ghosts of Albion series)
A novel by Amber Benson and Christopher Golden
There are things in this world that do not belong here -- evil things. Supernatural creatures that are neither myth nor legend. They are, in fact, quite real." -- Tamara Swift, 1838. In 1838, siblings William and Tamara Swift inherited a terrible legacy from their grandfather, becoming Protectors of Albion, the magical defenders of the soul of England. In 2003, the BBC's Cult website debuted "Legacy," an animated serial drama by actress/writer/director Amber Benson -- best known for her role as Tara on Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- and novelist Christopher Golden -- author of Strangewood, Of Saints and Shadows and The Boys Are Back in Town. For seven weeks the first Ghosts of Albion story unfolded, and the serial averaged more than 100,000 hits per week and won a special commendation at the 2003 Prix Europa. Tamara and William Swift have been called away from London to the village of Blackbriar, where a group of young, unmarried girls have given birth only to have their infants stolen, and terrible creatures left in their place. Ghosts of Albion: Astray is a lengthy novella originally serialized online but now published in book form for the first time, fashioned to reflect the publishing styles of the era by designer/illustrator Jose R. Nieto. A dark fantasy by Amber Benson and Christopher Golden.
