Nevermore County, 1780: Rivers of blood in the fields! A Beast has killed over one hundred people in the sleepy farming village of Tarasque Creek. Nothing seems able to catch the unseen monster prowling the shadows, leaving terrified residents huddled in their homes.
For Captain Gideon Wlkwos, killing a man in the war for American Independence is very much the same as killing a monster, if both are trying to kill him. Unfortunately, Gideon is a soldier, not a hunter. If he ever wants to get back to the real war and escape this dead-end monster hunt assignment, he needs to slay this beast as quickly as possible. Especially since due to the peculiarities of Nevermore Countys legal system, he has found himself married to a woman he does not know: Verlaine Gévaudan, a spirited yet allegedly insane local huntress who the people of town call The Mad Trappers Daughter.
Together, they will need to stop a mysterious wolf-like predator which is feasting on the innocent townsfolk, come to terms with the limits of their fake marriage (which might not be so fake after all), and try not to kill each other in the process.
Welcome to Nevermore County, where falling in love can be terrifying!
(M/F, HEA, no cheating, forced marriage, Revolutionary War romance, 100,000+ words, is part of a series but is a stand-alone story which can be read in any order.)
Genre: Paranormal Romance
