Die-as in Murder

When Portman Hardy was found shot in a Dorset wood on a snowy winter's night his murder posed unusual questions for Chief Superintendent Gary Bull and his assistant, Inspector Bert Whitelaw. What had become of a sizeable sum in used banknotes? And what was the secret his widow appeared unwilling to share? The two Yard men find themselves enmeshed in an intrigue that reaches back into a dead man's past and that holds its own special menace for one of them.
