The semester is coming to an end—but not before one last rager for Somerset University's finest. As a rookie Seagull, Nathan Hawkins is still getting his sea legs as a member of the college's esteemed hockey team. He's headed home to Kentucky tomorrow, but that doesn't stop the playful showman from letting loose and bonding with his teammates on the night before his big road trip. The night unfolds as wild nights often do; but Ramona, a girlfriend of a fellow Seagull, promises that she has just the thing Nathan will need for his long drive tomorrow. All he has to do is remember to stop by her dorm before hitting the road.

When Nathan oversleeps his alarm and rushes out of his dorm the next morning, it's with great relief that he sees Ramona ready and waiting for him. He's expecting a magic elixir—or maybe just some electrolytes—that will help bring him back to life for his twelve-hour drive. But Ramona's surprise isn't a magic elixir, much less some grocery store electrolytes.

It's Isabella Lane.

The daughter of a nationally renowned physician, Bella spends all her time studying. It's going to take a lot of effort to be even half the physician her father is, so she's abandoned some of her favorite hobbies—including her ultimate favorite: drawing—in favor of studying and living as a relative recluse at Somerset. Reluctantly, Bella agrees to ride home with Nathan. Her hometown in Ohio is on the way to his home in Kentucky, and Ramona has ensured Bella that Nathan is a standup guy.

But there's not much to do on a long car ride than talk, and boy oh boy does Nathan Hawkins like to chat. Minute by minute he breaks down Bella walls, discovering the hobbies she's long locked away and reigniting the verve that seems absent from her life these days. And as for the chemistry bubbling between them? Well, yeah, that's there too. Isabella Lane may be a pre-med student, but she's also a bad pucking girl.

This short read is a contemporary new adult hockey romance featuring the tropes of opposites attract and forced proximity.
